Hammers and Rice may come to loggerheads
West Ham, and Team Rice could find themselves at loggerheads over the next couple of weeks or so.
The arrival of Manchester City into negotiations for the player may well suit the Hammers more than the 24 year old and his father/agent Declan.
There seems little doubt from where I am sitting that some sort of publicity campaign aimed at keeping Arsenal bang in the frame has been mounted and we can all have our suspicions as to who may be responsible.
But with the player seemingly intent on the Arsenal option there is a big problem for him – the Hammers simply aren’t interested in the bids being offered right now and seem far more likely to be so in City’s who can genuinely push the boat out.
So should the Irons board continue to reject the Gooners option, as looks likely given their low ball options. where will that leave the player.
He may well want the north London option but if the Hammers have no interest and explain they are ready to accept a City bid he may be find he has just one option left – remaining with us or find himself .
The very unknowing pundit Danny Murphy said in a piece the other day that Declan should then ask for a transfer! The man doesn’t understand that simply isn’t Declan’s way.
He will understand he has two years left as a West Ham employee and it will be their decision whether he stays or where he goes.
He could be unhappy and there could be a bit of resistance on both sides. Yes maybe some loggerheads but don’t expect any serious problem – he just isn’t that kind of guy!
