Chelsea have turned down Manchester United’s third bid for England midfielder Mason Mount, but have come back with a ‘counter offer’, according to reports.
United boss Erik ten Hag has made Mount one of his top summer targets in a bid to improve his midfield.
The Red Devils made an opening offer worth £40million before coming back with bids worth £50m and £50m plus £5m in add-ons.
The third offer has been turned down by the Blues, however, according to multiple reports.
Chelsea initially wanted around £70m for Mount before lowering their valuation to £65m and countered the second other worth £55m including add-ons by asking for ‘£60m plus £7m in add-ons’.

According to Fabrizio Romano, David Ornstein and Matt Law, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have once again countered, this time telling United to pay them £58m plus £7m in add-ons, shaving off a cool £2m.
Romano says Chelsea also offered to meet in person in order to come to an agreement.
Law reported the exact same information, while The Athletic correspondent Ornstein says the ‘counter proposal’ has been put on the table in an attempt to find an ‘amicable solution’.
All three parties are hoping for a ‘swift resolution’ as United want Mount to be signed in time to travel to the United States for their pre-season tour.
Chelsea are ‘keen to comply’ with the 24-year-old’s desire to leave after he rejected several offers to extend his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs says the Red Devils will not walk away after seeing their third offer rejected.
Mount’s heart appears to be set on leaving the club he has been at since the age of six.
The England midfielder was promoted the club’s senior squad when he was 18 and spent time on loan with Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands and Derby County, before becoming a crucial player under Frank Lampard in west London.
Mount came under lots of criticism throughout the 2022/23 campaign. He only managed three goals and two assists in 24 Premier League appearances, with injuries greatly hindering his season.
Since making his Blues debut in 2017, Mount has scored 33 goals in 195 matches.
