Big London Stadium changes are here to stay after the latest reconfiguration but it’s unclear if West Ham will take advantage.
As West Ham fans will have seen, their home ground has been transformed over the last couple of weeks in order to host another Major League Baseball event.
West Ham’s London Stadium has been reconfigured for a two-part clash between St Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs this weekend.
Hammers supporters will be well aware of the MLB London Series event.
Because it was one of the key reasons the club could not use the ground to screen the Europa Conference League final for fans who could not attend.
Big London Stadium changes here to stay after latest reconfiguration but unclear if West Ham will take advantage
West Ham have no control over the multi-purpose use of the ground given they are merely anchor tenants.
But there could be a sizeable pay off for the Hammers from the latest event, quite literally.
Because big London Stadium changes are here to stay after the latest reconfiguration but it’s unclear if West Ham will take advantage.
A Hammers News source at the London Stadium has detailed changes that have been made to the changing rooms for the baseball.
Workers have transformed two areas into massive dressing rooms, each big enough for the huge MLB squads and staff.
And the changing rooms will remain in place once the event is over, becoming a permanent fixture at West Ham’s stadium.
Massive new changing rooms will become permanent fixture but will Hammers want – or be allowed – to use them?
The new changing rooms are separate from the existing West Ham and away team dressing rooms and have – for this event – been adorned with Cardinals and Cubs branding and crests.
The huge new changing room areas are situated just off the tunnel, closer to the field than the football dressing rooms.
But it is not yet clear whether West Ham would want – or be permitted by LLDC – to use the new changing room areas as their own from next season.
West Ham boss David Moyes may prefer the more intimate changing rooms the team currently use.
But with the shorter distance to the pitch, the new installations may give the boss more precious time with his players for pre-match and half-time team talks as well as more physical space.
If on schedule, the London Stadium will be reconfigured back to football mode within five days after the conclusion of the baseball on Sunday.
