Bill Kenwright’s days at Everton ‘are numbered’ with the club’s board in ‘shambles’ under owner Farhad Moshiri.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the lack of organisation and clarity in the Everton boardroom.
Everton released an official club statement on June 12 stating that three directors had left the club and added that a statement was due in 48 hours regarding the ‘future of the chairman’.
However, it took the Toffees until Friday (23 June) to announce new interim appointments at board level and that Kenwright was set to stay at the club after being convinced by Moshiri.
Further boardroom changes are expected at Goodison Park following a minority investment from MSP Sports Capital.
Football Insider revealed that MSP are set to invest £130million into Everton after US government documents were filed.
Maguire insists Moshiri has ‘let the fans down’ by not assuming responsibility as the club’s owner.
“Everton continue to be a shambles and it is such a shame given that they have managed to secure their Premier League status,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Ultimately, somebody’s got to take responsibility for this, and Farhad Moshiri has let the fans down.
“I think he’s let the staff down with the way in which he has conducted things and he has scapegoated the three directors that have left.
“He’s put Bill Kenwright’s position pretty much untenable, as everybody appears to know that Bill’s days are very much numbered – we’re just not being told what that number is.
“There is an opportunity for new investment to come in, and I think MSP will be looking for board representation.
“At present, there’s a vacuum at the top of the club.
“The clock is ticking with regard to the transfer market and Everton needs to reinforce, but Moshiri being indecisive is certainly not helping.“
