Fabio Carvalho is closing in on a move to RB Leipzig on a loan deal this summer.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been linked with a loan move away from Anfield for weeks and the move seems to have finally started transpiring. According to sources from the club, Carvalho has been eager to utilise his talents at another club before coming back as a first-team challenger at Liverpool.
German club RB Leipzig has always been a huge fan of the Portuguese player. The club approached Liverpool with a £10m bid at the end of the 2022/23 season, but it was swiftly rejected, as the Reds didn’t want a highly-rated prospect being let go after a single season of mediocrity.
Ever since being signed by Liverpool from Fulham at the back end of the 2021/22 season, Carvalho has had success making a mark in the first team. In his 21-game stint across the course of this season, he managed to score 3 goals but was not involved in assisting any. Overall, it wasn’t the start he would’ve liked but it would’ve made him reflect and look at what’s the next best option.
Liverpool is completely against the idea of letting Carvalho leave permanently but is eager to give him a loan move. According to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig and Liverpool are very close regarding a season-long loan and an agreement could be reached as soon as next week. However, with several Premier League clubs also interested in his signature, Leipzig will have to act fast to seal his move before the other sharks can have a bite.
