Sergio Rico’s wife reveals that the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper is ‘communicating’ but it is unlikely that he remembers horse riding accident
Sergio Rico’s wife has revealed that the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper is talking for the first time after a horse riding accident left him in a coma.
Rico suffered head injuries after falling from a horse in Seville on May 28.
The 29-year-old was woken from a coma last week but is still in intensive care.
His wife Alba Silva revealed that Rico is communicating and ‘has a great memory’.
She added that it is unlikely that Rico remembers the accident but says she is focused on being calm when talking to him.

Silva told Antena 3: ‘He is improving. He communicates, Sergio communicates.
‘He communicates. He calls us by name and everything, he knows perfectly who all of us who enter are and has a great memory.
‘I hope they will transfer him to the ward as soon as possible, but they have to be sure and they haven’t decided yet, so when they decide, we trust them.’
Asked if Rico remembers the incident, she replied: ‘I think not, but we just can’t know yet until he can talk [about it]. We try to keep him cool, calm while we’re together and that’s it.’
Rico’s situation appears more positive than in the aftermath of the incident, when Silva wrote on Instagram: ‘Don’t leave me alone my love because I swear I can’t, nor do I know how to live without you.’
