Carvalho has earned four caps for the Portugal U21 national team and previously represented England at U16 to U18 levels. Reports state that he is now preparing for a loan move to RB Leipzig in Germany.
The 20-year-old midfielder will spend the next 12 months away from Anfield to further his development.
The Portuguese loan move is nearing completion, with all parties reaching a full agreement last week. RB Leipzig, who finished third in the Bundesliga last season, will not have an option to buy included in the deal.
