Darren Bent claims Tottenham star Harry Kane would favour a move to Chelsea
Speaking on Talksport‘s Youtube Channel, Darren Bent, a former Tottenham striker, has ignited speculation by suggesting that the club’s star player Harry Kane may be interested in a move to Chelsea.
The 29-year-old striker has been continuously linked with a departure from the club this summer, as he approaches the final year of his contract without signing an extension. However, a move has not materialized.
Despite being an iconic figure at Tottenham, Kane’s desire to win trophies at the highest level may lead him to seek opportunities elsewhere. Several clubs have been rumoured to be interested in acquiring Kane’s services, including Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
However, Bent believes that the allure of reuniting with Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea could be a strong factor in Harry Kane‘s decision-making process. The Englishman played some of his best football under the Blues manager.
Speaking on Talksport about the situation of Harry Kane and Tottenham, Bent expressed his thoughts, saying
“I think he’d like to have gone to Manchester City (last summer), but that’s obviously off the table. I think he’d like to go to Chelsea, because of Pochettino.”
The Argentine manager, who enjoyed a successful stint at Tottenham, currently leads the reins at Chelsea. Pochettino’s presence could provide the necessary attraction for Kane to consider a move to their London rivals.
Although the idea of joining a rival club may raise eyebrows among fans, Kane’s hunger for success and the opportunity to work with a manager who understands his abilities might prove to be persuasive.
Chelsea, undoubtedly, could benefit from bolstering their attacking options. In recent weeks, they have been linked with various strikers, highlighting their ambition to strengthen their frontline.
