Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Tomas Soucek from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
According to Italian football journalist Luca Cerchione, West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek is a transfer target for Italian champions Napoli this summer.
Hammers boss David Moyes needs to strengthen his central midfield ranks before the start of the new season, with Declan Rice set to leave to join Arsenal.
The thing is, if West Ham are to make real progress as a team, the Scot needs to bring in a big upgrade on Soucek as well.
And it seems as though Moyes may have to bring in more than one central midfielder this summer, if the Czech Republic international is indeed sold…
Report makes a big Tomas Soucek claim as West Ham fairytale could soon be over
Signed for £15 million in the summer of 2020 after a four month loan spell with the club (Daily Mail), Soucek has actually been a very good player for us, in spite of his shaky form over the past year or so.
If we’re being honest, the former Slavia Prague midfielder is nowhere good enough for what we need right now, if we are to progress to the next level.
And Italian football journalist Luca Cerchione reckons that Napoli are monitoring Soucek’s situation at the London Stadium:
If Napoli offer us anything like what we paid for Soucek, he quite simply must be sold this summer.
He is out of contract at the London Stadium in 12 month’s time, although the Hammers do have the option to extend that deal by a further year.
I think that if West Ham manage to get around £10-15 million for Tomas Soucek, it will be very good business indeed.
And selling the Czech midfielder will provide Moyes with a huge opportunity to really improve upon the quality of football that his team play.
