Agent outlines Postecoglou’s plans for Destiny Udogie at Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Stefano Antonelli, the agent of Destiny Udogie has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou wants to integrate the talented left-back in his plans for next season.
The talented 20-year-old, who was signed by Tottenham from Udinese last season, spent the previous campaign on loan at his former club. However, it now appears that Udogie will finally make the move to North London this summer.
Stefano Antonelli, Udogie’s agent, recently confirmed the news, expressing his client’s delight at the opportunity to showcase his abilities under the guidance of Postecoglou. The Italian under-21 international is highly regarded by the new Tottenham manager, who is prepared to give him a chance to prove himself.
The signing, which cost Tottenham £15 million, is set to join the squad for their pre-season tour in Thailand. The club does not have a fixed left-back option in the squad and Destiny Udogie has a chance to make it his own.
Antonelli shed light on the situation and here is what he had to say about the plans for his client.
“Udogie’s story is clear. He’s from Tottenham and we’ve also had contacts in the last few days because they’ve changed the management, the coach, and because they’ll play 4-3-3 and no longer 3-5-2. Postecoglou is convinced of Udogie’s space, but the Italians are calling because some think he needs another step, perhaps in an Italian top club such as Juventus, AC Milan or Inter Milan.”
The agent further explained that he had received a call from the head of the technical area at Tottenham, who expressed their desire to have Udogie join the team for the Thailand tour. The club emphasised the player’s importance and reassured Antonelli of their commitment to his development.
This news will undoubtedly boost Udogie’s confidence as he looks to establish himself in the starting lineup for the upcoming season. With Tottenham in need of a reliable left-back, Udogie will relish the opportunity to compete for a starting role.
Current options like Ivan Perisic have been linked with moves away from the club, while Ryan Sessegnon has yet to cement his place in the team. Therefore, Udogie will fancy his chances of making a breakthrough and solidifying his spot in the starting eleven.
