Tottenham Hotspur want Ollie Watkins to replace Harry Kane if he leaves the club
According to Fichajes, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a move or Ollie Watkins should star striker Harry Kane leave the club.
The English skipper has led the Spurs frontline with great effect over the better part of a decade. He is rightfully considered to be among the best number nines in world football today.
With just one year left on his current deal, the 29-year-old’s future is far from resolved. Unless he pens fresh terms, there will always be a concern that he could depart north London for free in the summer of 2024.
Tottenham rejected an approach from Bayern Munich for Kane and could yet be privy to inquiries for their star man. Should the worst come to pass, they will be left without an infallible goal scorer who can lead the line with minimal fuss.
It is better to be prepared for the worst than be caught cold. With this in mind, Tottenham are eyeing Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins to replace Kane should the English skipper shift clubs this summer.
Capable of playing upfront and also out wide on the left, the 27-year-old is a proven goal scorer in the English top flight. While his numbers might not be on the same level as Kane, he is a solid yet uninspiring choice to lead the line.
Watkins’ contract at Villa Park runs until 2025 and he is also attracting attention from Newcastle United and Manchester United. Villa might be open to a sale provided Tottenham can make them an offer they cannot refuse.
Ange Postecoglou’s arrival has kickstarted our summer transfer business with aplomb. With or without Kane, Richarlison has shown that he isn’t capable of leading the line on a regular basis. It is imperative that we look beyond the current roster for Kane’s replacement should the need come to pass.

If Watkins was on the same level as Kane, teams would have been looking at him rather than eyeing our 29-year-old superstar. The Aston Villa star would be a player who would have to be developed as a world-class striker here at Spurs, but he has shown that he has all the raw minerals needed to be just that.
