Tim Steidten is in effect as a journalist claims West Ham will make a £7.5m bid for South American sensation Dario Osorio this week.
West Ham are clearly targeting a completely new profile of player after the arrival of Tim Steidten as technical director.
The unveiling of the German on West Ham’s official website dropped a clear hint the club are hoping to see the new man make an instant impact – as he did at former club Bayer Leverkusen.
And it seems he’s not wasting any time.

According to Alan Nixon the Hammers want the 19-year-old winger, who is already a full Chile international.
Nixon reports that Osorio has turned down a move to Brazil because he wants to come to Europe from current side Universidad de Chile.
“Hammers are expected to table an offer around £7.5 million this week while AC Milan are also interested in buying Osorio and loaning him out,” Sun journalist Nixon said on his Patreon account.
“Universidad will sell at the right price and West Ham could sneak him in before other Premier League clubs act.”
Remains to be seen how new Red Bull-like approach will be implemented at West Ham
Wolves have also been linked with Osorio but West Ham have London and European football to offer.
Osorio is a big, powerful specimen who can also play as a striker. And that might better explain the thinking behind this move.
Because David Moyes is well stocked for wingers and the Hammers have been heavily linked with Harvey Barnes of Leicester too.
It remains to be seen whether this clear change of approach from West Ham – more in line with the Red Bull model Moyes talked up on his return to the club in 2020 – is with a view to these players being integrated straight into the first team squad.
Or whether they will be players signed to go into West Ham’s academy setup – as has been the case previously.
Although spending sizeable funds on a young player suggests it will be the former rather than the latter.
