There was no mention of Rob Newman in the Tim Steidten statement posted on the official West Ham website yesterday.
And that speaks volumes about West Ham head of recruitment Rob Newman far as I’m concerned.
Tim Steidten was officially appointed as the new Hammers director of football yesterday.
With Mark Noble having recently been handed the Sporting Director role at the London Stadium, there is plenty of confusion flying around regarding how all of these appointments will work together alongside David Moyes.
It seems as though the West Ham website may have dropped a big hint regarding that yesterday though…
West Ham United’s official Tim Steidten statement is worth 1000 words and bad news for one man
The full statement from the club can be read here via the official website.
The club’s new technical director will apparently ‘be responsible for the Club’s overarching player recruitment strategy and scouting department, working closely with Manager David Moyes and Sporting Director Mark Noble’.
Now the fact that Newman isn’t even mentioned there tells us all we need to know in my opinion.
The 59-year-old was appointed as the Hammers’ head of recruitment in October 2021.
However, the signings that he oversaw last summer were questionable to say the least.
And a recent report claimed that Newman could be sent packing from the London Stadium this summer.
Following the official statement from West Ham on Tim Steidten, I believe Newman’s days at the London Stadium could well be numbered.
