West Ham set for striker hijack
West Ham striker hijack on cards
West Ham may well miss out and what many considered a priority signing Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres who according to a new report is closing on an £18.5million move to Sporting Lisbon.
The Hammers are in a race to get the Swede with Brentford and Everton but according to Mail Sport Sporting have made the best offer so far.
The exciting 25-year-old averaged nearly a goal in in two games – 23 from 50 games on the way to the play-off final last season. Gyokeres has scored three times in 14 appearances for Sweden.
Gyokeres has just 12 months remaining on his deal at Coventry and, having failed to reach the Premier League, are now ready to sell so it is to be hoped the striker decides he wans the PL rather than any other League with the Hammers able to offer him European football.
He joined Coventry in 2021 from Brighton, in what initially was a loan deal, and he has scored 43 goals and contributed 17 assists in 116 appearances.
