Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Torino defender Wilfried Singo
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Tottenham Hotspur are expressing interest in talented Torino defender Wilfried Singo.
The 22-year-old has caught the attention of Spurs’ scouts, and it seems the North London club could make a move for him during the upcoming summer window. Singo is not the only defender the club are interested in.
It appears that the Lilywhites have never hidden their appreciation for the talented Ivorian. Valued at €15 million, Singo could potentially don the Tottenham jersey if an offer in the region of €12 million is tabled.
With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2024, Torino might be feeling the pressure to cash in on the promising full-back. The Italian side wouldn’t want to risk losing Singo on a free transfer, making it sensible for them to consider a cut-price deal in the weeks to come.
Known for his versatility, Singo predominantly operates as a right-sided full-back but has also showcased his abilities as a wing-back. Last season, he impressed with two goals and three assists across various competitions, demonstrating his potential impact on the pitch.
However, Tottenham’s interest in Singo raises eyebrows given their current defensive options. Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal are already part of the squad, presenting stiff competition for the right-back role.
Even if Tottenham were to part ways with Emerson Royal, they would not necessarily require another right-back. Instead, the club’s priorities should lie in securing a top-quality left-back, a position that has long been a concern for the Lilywhites.
It is undeniable that Singo has proven his worth at Torino, and his future looks incredibly bright. However, a move to Tottenham might not be the best step for the talented full-back at this stage of his career.
