Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez is being eyed by Villarreal to replace Pau Torres, who is set to join Aston Villa, according to Spanish outlet Relevo.
The Villans are set to pay the La Liga outfit between €35–40 million to acquire the services of the 26-year-old. To that end, the Yellow Submarine like the Colombia international as one of the options to reinforce their backline.
As things stand, the 27-year-old is up for grabs and available on the market. However, the North London side will demand €15 million for the former Ajax Amsterdam centre-back.
Sanchez made his way to Tottenham in the summer of 2017. His current contract with the Lilywhites is set to expire next summer. Therefore, Spurs have a chance to cash in on the defender this summer.
Apart from Villarreal, a number of other teams have the Colombian on their radar as well. In Turkey, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, as well as Russian outfit Spartak Moscow, are interested in getting a hold of the 27-year-old’s signature.
Although, in the past, the North London side have been involved in some deals with the La Liga outfit. Juan Foyth switched from N17 to the Estadio de la Ceramica. We have also loaned out Giovano Lo Celso to the Yellow Submarines a couple of times.
Sanchez has lost prominence at Tottenham over the years. The defender had an encouraging start to life at Spurs. Unfortunately, things have not panned out for him in recent seasons.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the Colombian hardly got an opportunity to feature. He was also booed by the fans on one particular occasion against Bournemouth in April while being substituted.
