Fabrizio Romano says fans won’t believe what Arsenal duo Mikel Arteta and Edu did to get the Declan Rice deal done with West Ham.
The British transfer record will tumble imminently as Arsenal close on the £105m plus signing of Declan Rice from West Ham.
The Rice saga has dragged on far too long as a result of Arsenal’s apparent reluctance to meet West Ham’s terms regarding payments and add-ons.
West Ham wanted the money over a maximum of 18 months whereas Arsenal’s offer was set out over four years. And there was also said to be minor details over the add-ons which needed to be ironed out too.

Yesterday Arsenal were given a 72-hour warning with Hammers co-owner David Sullivan prepared to ‘walk away’ from the Rice deal.
That seems to have had the desired effect from West Ham’s point of view. Because Arsenal’s hierarchy have responded today by coming to agreement with the Hammers if reports are to be believed.
In the end it seems two men are to thank from the Arsenal perspective when it comes to getting the Rice deal over the line.

Romano reveals secret behind Arsenal fighting off Man City for Rice as Edu and Arteta went to great lengths
The transfer reporter has delivered a detailed update and says it’s almost time for his famous ‘here we go’ on Rice joining the Gunners from the Hammers.
Romano says Arteta and Edu must be praised for their roles in making sure Arsenal beat Manchester City for the West Ham captain. The Italian has highlighted the great lengths both went to in order to finally secure the transfer.
“Let me say one thing about the secrets of the Declan Rice deal,” Romano said on YouTube.
“We have to include once again not just the director, Edu, who has been pushing on this deal and has been trying to find the best strategy for a long time since January, but also Mikel Arteta.
“In the crucial hours when Manchester City submitted an official bid to sign Declan Rice, it was probably the most difficult and intense hours of the negotiations for Arsenal.
‘Trust me, they did an incredible job in this story… it’s almost time for here we go’
“Also, in that moment, Arteta was always very convinced of having Declan Rice as an Arsenal star. He’s been pushing internally, but also on the player side. He’s been explaining the project and talking about how the Arsenal project is perfect for Rice, his ambitious project is for the future and Declan can be a crucial player there.
“So Arteta has been very clear with all the players Arsenal are negotiating. It was the case with Kai Havertz, it’s going to be the same with Jurrien Timber, but especially with Rice.
“Declan Rice and Arsenal is something that is going to happen also thanks to Edu and Arteta. Trust me, they did an incredible job in this story. So just waiting on the final bits of this story and then it’s going to be ‘Here We Go’ for Declan Rice!”
It is hard to stomach for West Ham fans to see their hero set to join their London rivals.
And Arsenal plan to rub West Ham’s noses in it by making a huge fanfare of the Rice announcement according to a journalist.
