Inter Milan are said to be ‘confident’ of securing a move for Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku as a loan-to-buy option is currently being discussed.
It’s no secret that Lukaku has had a tough time since returning to Stamford Bridge and a summer exit now seems likely.
The Belgian forward spent last season on loan with Inter and he is pushing for a permanent move to the San Siro.
Along with Inter, Saudi side Al Hilal are also interested in the 30-year-old, although Lukaku himself would prefer a move to Italy.
According to Rudy Galetti, Inter are exploring a loan-to-buy deal for the Chelsea forward this summer.
“Inter are confident to reach an agreement with Chelsea for Lukaku,” the journalist revealed on Twitter.
He also claims that Inter are “ready to propose an onerous loan (~£5/6m) with buy obligation set at ~£25/27m.
“Chelsea want to part ways with Romelu definitely: AlHilal still interested, but he only desires Inter.”
Lukaku had his fair share of injury problems last season, but he still managed to score 14 goals across all competitions.
He scored 10 goals and provided five six assists in Serie A and averaged a goal contribution every 103 minutes which is decent going.
While Chelsea seem keen on shifting Lukaku, they will have to make a huge loss on the forward after their original £97.5m investment back in 2021.
Chelsea have already sold the likes of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Kalidou Koulibaly in recent weeks.
Lukaku looks set to join that outgoings list, along with a few more Chelsea stars who could yet be sold this summer.
Christian Pulisic is also looking for a way out of the club, with AC Milan among the clubs said to be interested in the winger.
Along with Pulisic, the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech and Conor Gallagher are being linked with a move away from the club.
Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to establish his playing squad for next season as soon as possible and so Chelsea will continue to work behind the scenes to shift some of their unwanted stars.
