Chelsea are said to be considering offers of around €45m for Romelu Lukaku as they have knocked back Inter Milan’s latest bid to sign him.
Mauricio Pochettino has already overseen a huge overturn of players with several high-profile departures so far.
Chelsea have been boosted by the signings of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, with more signings still expected.
Lukaku doesn’t seem to be part of Chelsea’s plans for the future, but they will only sell the 30-year-old at the right price.
Inter had been discussing the possibility of signing Lukaku on loan for the season with the obligation to buy, but this offer has been rejected.
According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea have now set their asking price for Lukaku, with a couple of clubs interested.
“Chelsea considering bids for Romelu Lukaku in the €45m range. Al-Hilal and Juventus in the race. Inter’s bid rejected out of hand,” Jacobs explained on Twitter.
“Lukaku is seriously considering Saudi.”
Prior to these latest developments, it had seemed as if Lukaku wasn’t keen on a move to Saudi as remaining in Europe was his priority.
However, with Inter’s bid being knocked back by Chelsea, Lukaku might give some more thought to the offer from Saudi.
The Belgian forward had his fair share of injury problems last season, but he still managed to score 14 goals across all competitions.
With Lukaku’s future seemingly away from Stamford Bridge, Pochettino is currently focusing on the players who will be at the club next season.
“What I found from day one, the players were very open. The attitude is amazing, we have quality and we are going to add more quality.
“I think when you finish the season you need to move. There is no point looking backwards. I am a positive person, I can always see the positive things,” Pochettino told reporters.
“I think when I was outside, I was hearing different opinions about Chelsea and the squad being too big.
“For me a fresh start and who is coming to come. I don’t think too much about that. People come in and go out.”
