FFP – the last word
One final word on this FFP stuff !
UEFA’s new rules allow clubs to incur losses of €60m over three years, compared to the previous allowance of €30m. A spending cap on wages, transfers and agents’ fees to 70% of a club’s total revenue by 2025/2026 has also been introduced. Clubs are also required to settle overdue payables in specified timeframes.
As regards West Ham we will probably had revenues of about £225 million this season when the accounts are finally ratified. In order not to fall foul of UEFA and their rules, this would limit wages, transfers and agent fees to around £203m for this coming season which seems perfectly doable. as we shelled out £130m of wages £50m on Net Transfer Spend and £10.5m on those leech-like Agent Fees last term.
However, if (and don`t forget we are talking about West Ham here), nothing untoward happens, the numbers will slowly decrease from £180m in 2024 and then to £157.5m for the following season.
This is why we must spend our Declan Rice windfall wisely.
