West Ham hold further talks with Juventus’ Denis Zakaria with the Swiss midfielder seen as a potential replacement for Arsenal-bound England star Declan Rice
West Ham have held further talks with Juventus over midfielder Denis Zakaria but are still short of agreement.
The Hammers are sourcing replacements for Declan Rice as his £105million transfer to Arsenal is ’95 per cent’ complete.
Zakaria, 26, spent last season on loan at Chelsea but they did not want to bring him in permanently after an unimpressive spell during which he made seven Premier League appearances.
However, this has not deterred West Ham.
Juventus are reportedly willing to let the midfielder depart this summer and things are moving in the right direction for Zakaria to return to the Premier League.

They also intend to bid for Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse.
The Saints put a £40m price tag on the midfielder after their relegation from the top flight but The Irons are looking for a deal worth around £20m.
In an ideal world, Southampton would not sell both Ward-Prowse and Romeo Lavia in the same window but they want to recoup around £100m in player sales.
