Tottenham Hotspur earmark Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Tottenham Hotspur have identified Chelsea star Conor Gallagher as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to The Telegraph.
The Denmark international is being targeted by Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and a number of clubs in Germany. To that end, the Blues’ 23-year-old academy graduate has emerged as an option to reinforce the North London side’s engine room.
However, as things stand, Mauricio Pochettino is an admirer of the England international. The Stamford Bridge side have also already lost a lot of talent in the middle of the park. Therefore, whether they decide to part ways with another midfielder this summer remains to be seen.
Previously, Newcastle United had also expressed interest in Gallagher. Aston Villa have also been linked with acquiring the 23-year-old’s services in the ongoing transfer window. Any interested parties could have to pay at least £50 million to get a hold of his signature.
The English national was in and out of Chelsea’s starting lineup last season. However, now, the Blues are without N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
At Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou’s squad has been bolstered with the addition of James Maddison so far. The Australian manager also has Yves Bissouma, Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr. Tanguy Ndombele has also returned from his Napoli loan.
Hojbjerg was an ever-present in our team in the 2022/23 term. The 27-year-old was the one who provided attacking support from the engine room in the absence of Rodrigo Bentancur, who suffered a serious knee injury mid-way through the season and is still recovering.

Therefore, if we were to lose the Danish national, the gaffer would evidently need reinforcements in the middle of the park. While Gallagher is a promising talent, will Chelsea sell him to one of their London rivals? Only time will tell.
