Everton have made contact with Villarreal about signing winger Arnaut Danjuma this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Contact has been made over a potential loan deal, with the Toffees ready to pay a loan fee as they prepare to submit an offer.
It is believed that Sean Dyche has already spoken to the player ahead of a move.
Everton almost signed Danjuma in January and he successfully completed a medical, but, in a sensational twist, decided on a last-minute move to Tottenham instead.
Football Insider revealed on Friday that Everton are hoping to sign two forwards before the end of the summer transfer window
Dyche would like more signings but he is fully aware of the restrictions the club face from Financial Fair Play.
For the Toffees to bolster their squad, they would need to offload players, before strengthening the team.
Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto is one forward they are interested in, but they would need to finance the deal by selling players.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Wednesday (5 July) that Everton and Aston Villa alongside other Premier League clubs are interested in signing Leeds United star Gnonto.
The 19-year-old’s contract at Elland Road runs until 2027 after he joined from FC Zurich last year for a reported fee of just under £4million.
Danjuma is also no stranger to the Premier League – having made 14 appearances for Bournemouth in the English top flight during the 2019-20 campaign.
He exploded into life in the Championship in the following season after the Cherries’ relegation.
