David Moyes the decision maker…for now!
Claret and Hugh Exclusive by Hughie Southon
David Moyes is set to continue making the major summer window decisions at West Ham as new technical director Tim Steidten spends time settling into his new position.
Moyes has already handed a list of players he wants at the club to the board where David Sullivan will be making all the financial moves after handing them over control to Moyes last season.
The manager is now in the final year of his 36 month deal at the club and Steidten will work alongside the Scot with both looking to come to mutual agreement on new arrivals.
The new man watch Moyes in operation for several months and will become more influential as the winter window approaches.
This falls in line with what a key source told Claret and Hugh several days ago when we asked who would have the final word on deals.
The reply we received was that “mutual agreement was the way the club worked” but he added: “We will have to wait and see.”
It seems, however, that whilst Steidten has players he would like to bring into West Ham, there will have to be Moyes’ approval for that to happen.
In the meantime the new set up appears to have left Head of Recruitment in a West Ham wilderness but no decision has yet been made on his future.
