According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is also being targeted by West Ham.
After Chelsea spent around £600m on new signings last season, the club’s hierarchy have been focusing on selling players this summer to balance the books.
The Premier League side have earned around £220m from player sales, with Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Kalidou Koulibaly among their high-profile departures.
Gallagher is also being linked with a move elsewhere after he started just 18 games in the Premier League last season.
Back in May, it was reported that the Blues are considering letting Gallagher leave this summer in a five-man ‘brutal cull’ involving their academy players.
Football Insider are now reporting that Tottenham are ‘making their move’ to sign Gallagher from their London rivals.
Tottenham have already spent over £100m this summer, with James Maddison and Manor Solomon among their notable additions. The report adds.
‘Chelsea are believed to be holding out for a fee of at least £40million to let Gallagher depart the club in the coming months.
‘On Tuesday (18 July), Football Insider revealed that the Hammers have opened official talks with their London rivals over a deal for the 23-year-old.
‘David Moyes is keen to add reinforcements in midfield following Declan Rice’s exit and the Irons opened negotiations with their London rivals at the weekend about a move for Gallagher.
‘The Hammers have been hopeful of getting a deal done for £30m but Mauricio Pochettino’s side are likely to hold out for the £40m mark. They now face competition from fellow Londoners Tottenham in the hunt for the midfielder’s signature.’

Spurs are doing some solid business but they need to keep Harry Kane to give themselves a better chance of being successful next season under new boss Ange Postecoglou.
The forward is being linked with Bayern Munich and Jamie Redknapp has encouraged him to “push” for a move away “now”.
“If you were Harry Kane with one year to go, this is the time to leave,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“He has to push now because Man United might get somebody else. He missed out on Man City a few years ago when he wasn’t allowed to leave, right now it feels like he needs to push.
“One year on his contract, go somewhere and really show what he has got because at the moment Tottenham don’t look like they are even close. It is like a social experiment of how far you can push your fans before they completely lose it.
“No one is going to want to lose Harry Kane, he has been incredible for that team, but I just feel he deserves better.”
