Liverpool are linked with a long-serving midfielder valued by PSG at £69million, while David De Gea is waiting for a better offer than what he’s received from Inter to replace Andre Onana…
LIVERPOOL LINKED WITH PSG STAR
Liverpool’s midfield refit remains a long way from complete after the unexpected offers from Saudi for Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. Thiago could be on his way too, leaving Jurgen Klopp light despite the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominick Szoboszlai.
The Reds have been linked with Romeo Lavia, Cheick Doucoure and a few others. Now, L’Equipe has chucked Marco Verratti’s name into the mix too.
Verratti has been at PSG for the last 11 seasons and despite recently signing a new contract until 2026, the Italian is up for a new challenge. PSG are open to offers for almost all of their players and it is said they want £69million for the 30-year-old, though they will be lucky to get half that.
Liverpool and another Premier League team are keen and there is inevitable interest from Saudi but Atletico Madrid are said to be frontrunners at this stage even if no bid has been submitted.
SPURS EYE VILLA, CHELSEA MIDFIELDERS
Atletico are keeping their options open by sniffing around Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. If current talks between the Spaniards and the Denmark international lead to a deal, then Spurs will look for midfield reinforcements.
The Daily Mail says Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz is a candidate. So too is Conor Gallagher – one of the few midfielders left at Chelsea.
The Blues would be open to selling Gallagher if they can get Moises Caicedo from Brighton, in which case, they will need to pay up. There is also said to be some concern at Stamford Bridge that they are doing a grand job of strengthening their rivals having already sold top talent to Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.

DE GEA SNUBS INTER OFFER
Manchester United confirmed the signing of Andre Onana on Thursday evening, giving the Red Devils are new No.1 – who will wear 24 – for the first time in a dozen years.
Their old No.1 remains a free-agent having apparently rejected an offer from Inter Milan to replace Onana.
The Daily Record says Inter made a proposal to the Spanish stopper worth £4million a year – roughly £77,000 a week – to move to the San Siro. But having been paid somewhere in the region of five times that amount for the last four years, De Gea is holding out for a better offer.
Marcel Sabitzer also departed Old Trafford at the end of last season after a half-season loan with the Red Devils. The Austria midfielder is back at Bayern Munich, but maybe not for long.
Bayern are open to offers for Sabitzer and while United have been credited with an interest, Bild says Borussia Dortmund are in pole position ahead of other Premier League and Ligie 1 clubs.
