Chelsea ‘submit a £39m bid for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise’ – MORE than his £35m release clause – in a bid to beat Manchester City to his signature and bring him back to Stamford Bridge
- Chelsea have made an opening offer to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise
- He has been ‘seduced by the Blues’ project’ but face competition from rivals
- Manchester City are also in the race to sign the 21-year-old right winger
Chelsea have reportedly made a ‘£39million pound offer plus bonuses’ to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.
According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the 21-year-old has been ‘seduced by the Blues’ project’ and ‘in principle agrees to go to Chelsea even if there are always negotiations.’
It is also reportedly the first bid that Mauricio Pochettino‘s side have tabled for the in-demand French prospect, who unfortunately sustained a hamstring tear while playing for the under 21 side at this summers European Championship.
Mail Sport understands that Olise has a £35m buyout clause but the Blues have offered figures in excess of that amount, in a bid to secure a better payment term akin to the arrangement they successfully negotiated to sign Nicolas Jackson for £32m from Villarreal.
The Blues want to sign the young winger and their above-asking price offer may help them pip Manchester City in the race to sign him.
Yet Palace are trying to convince him to stay and Pochettino’s side will likely need to trigger that buyout fee with the Roy Hodgson’s side reluctant to entertain negotiations to sell him.
