Gianluca Scamacca has been pictured as speculation about a cut-price West Ham exit swirls with six Italian clubs linked.
There has been just as much speculation over Gianluca Scamacca’s West Ham future as there was about Declan Rice’s.
And that’s quite some achievement.
They say there’s no smoke without fire. If that is the case with Scamacca and West Ham then many supporters feel he is destined to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
According to reports over the weekend, ‘ruthless’ David Moyes wants to completely overhaul his attack and is willing to sell at least two of Scamacca, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings this summer.
Gianluca Scamacca pictured as speculation about cut-price West Ham exit swirls with six Italian clubs linked
Italian striker Scamacca was absent from West Ham’s squad for the 2-2 friendly draw with Dagenham and Redbridge at the weekend.
And that sparked claims he had been given permission to return to his homeland ahead of a Hammers departure.
The likes of Il Tempo – via TMW – and Roma Press reported yesterday that Scamacca was ‘in Italy as Roma re-open talks’ for West Ham’s £35m man.
Some reports have since claimed he could be sold for just £16m and others that he could be loaned out for a mere £2.6m fee.
There has been an interesting development today, though.
Because Scamacca has been pictured as speculation about a cut-price West Ham exit swirls with six Italian clubs linked.
Personal reasons behind striker’s weekend return to Italy
Scamacca has been linked with Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Atalanta.
But today he has been pictured back at West Ham and training with his teammates.
In a picture gallery published on West Ham’s official site on Monday, Scamacca can be seen training at Rush Green in images number one and 14.
In fairness to Il Tempo – via TMW – they did state that Scamacca had been granted permission to return to Italy for personal reasons at the weekend.
That did not stop the inevitable mischief making, though, from the football press.
But whether the Hammers want to keep Scamacca – and indeed whether the player himself wants to stay – remains to be seen.
