A reporter with David Sullivan links has doubled down on the depressing West Ham transfer situation as a grim claim is made.
It’s not been much fun for West Ham fans thus far in the summer transfer window.
If last summer’s window was a £170m feast then this is a famine.
The window officially opened for domestic deals on June 15th and for all transfers from July 1st but the Hammers are yet to make a single signing for their first team.
That’s despite the departure of talisman and captain Declan Rice as well as Manuel Lanzini.
West Ham have £105m burning a hole in their pockets – which actually translates to a transfer budget in the region of £133m – here’s how.
And that figure will be added to with the expected departures of Nikola Vlasic and Aaron Cresswell further boosting the kitty by around £15m.

Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio are also being linked with West Ham exits.
Make no mistake the Hammers have the money to spend now.
A reported £14-15m of it will go on the club’s first arrival with Man City youngster Carlos Borges said to be close to joining this week.
We reported on tragic claims from a site with connections to Hammers majority owner David Sullivan at the weekend stating the club were not remotely close to signing any other players.
But that did not stop speculation about West Ham ‘closing in’ on several targets such as Edson Alvarez.
Now a reporter with Sullivan links has doubled down on the depressing West Ham transfer situation as a grim claim is made.
‘It brought a worried response as to what is going on behind the scenes’
Hugh Southon has reiterated that his source has told him West Ham are “nowhere near bringing in any other player than Carlos Borges”.
“It really could not have been made any clearer and came on the back of a very anxious inquiry by ourselves which, although off the record, I can report brought a worried response (as) to what is going on behind the scenes,” Southon claims on Claret and Hugh.
“A certain individual is being very nervy and cautious re(garding) the window and actually that is doing both words an injustice…
“Don’t be misled by what you are reading elsewhere – there’s nobody on their way other than the City kid and we wait for that to happen!”
How utterly infuriating.
If West Ham don’t bring in at least two quality midfielders, a centre-back, a left-back and a forward then it borders on negligence.
