Tottenham Hotspur expected to make a bid for Chelsea target Elye Wahi
According to Montpellier-based outlet Midi Libre, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a bid for talented striker Elye Wahi.
The highly-talented Frenchman has also been on the radar of Chelsea, who have already made their intentions known with a bid of their own. However, Montpellier swiftly rejected the offer, leaving the door open for Tottenham to step in.
Speaking candidly to Midi Libre about the club’s transfer business, Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin confirmed Chelsea’s bid
“The amount offered didn’t meet our expectations.”
It appears that Tottenham will need to come up with a more enticing offer to persuade Montpellier to part ways with their young star. The 20-year-old Wahi boasts an impressive track record, having scored 19 goals and provided 6 assists in just 33 league appearances last season.
Despite the excitement surrounding the potential bid from Spurs, it’s essential to tread cautiously when it comes to signing Wahi. He still is nowhere close to the finished article and might struggle if he gets here.
If the bid is indeed forthcoming, Tottenham will face stiff competition from Chelsea, who have already set the bar with their initial €25 million offer. The London club will have to be prepared to exceed this figure if they wish to secure Wahi’s services.
While Wahi’s arrival would undoubtedly be met with excitement, it’s important to recognize that he would be a signing for the future rather than a direct replacement for the prolific Harry Kane.
The young Frenchman has enormous potential and could develop into a key player for Tottenham in the years to come. However, expecting him to fill Kane’s boots immediately would be placing undue pressure on his young shoulders.

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer strategy appears to be leaning towards young, promising talents, and Wahi seems to fit that mould perfectly. However, it only makes sense at the right price.
