Atletico Madrid looking to ‘reach compromise’ with Tottenham Hotspur for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
According to The Independent’s ‘Reading the Game‘ newsletter, Tottenham Hotspur are still engaged in talks with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid as they look to ‘reach a compromise’ to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
One of the first squad news that came out after Ange Postecoglou took over as the manager of Tottenham was the fact that talented Danish midfielder, Hojbjerg could be one of the names who could leave the club this summer.
Conveniently enough, Tottenham found a suitor in Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone’s side interested in signing the former Southampton midfielder. Truth be said, he would suit the Spanish outfit more than he would suit a Postecoglou team.
Ever since Tottenham signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, he has been a pillar of consistency in an otherwise unstable team. Despite the manager merry-go-round, the Danish ace has always found a place in the starting XI.
To be fair to him, he has never let any manager or the team down. A hard-working, industrious midfielder who would always give everything he has got on the pitch, it seemed to be working well for him at the N17.
Enter Ange Postecoglou, the Australian tactician with a very clear ideology on how his team must play football and what kind of midfielders he needs for the same. It became very clear very early on that Hojbjerg was just not that guy.
However, despite a transfer saga that has dragged on for weeks, the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement over the sale of the midfielder and it is now being claimed that ‘a compromise has to be reached’ between both parties.
This compromise is likely to mean a financial one and it remains to be seen how much lower Tottenham are willing to go. The club must not let themselves get rolled over and Hojbjerg is a player who can command a decent fee in today’s market.

If Hojbjerg leaves the club this summer, the fans can be very thankful for his services. He has been a great servant but sometimes things have to change and people have to move on. This definitely seems like one of those occasions.
