I don’t think we’re quite ready for a season preview post but there is quite a lot happening, so it’s time for an update. And did I just see someone suggesting we were interested in Adama Traoré?
I think it’s fair to assume that our business isn’t done and while it would be nice to see Traoré in a Villa shirt again I think it would be as a squad player, someone for Europe and the cups maybe.
And I’m assuming our business isn’t done because the transfer window is open throughout August and I think we’ll see one or two more leave before that window closes and I think our manager will want to know someone is coming in, if losing a player that he might not want to lose.
And I write that because I’d not be surprised if a player we all love leaves. And love is a strong word, but I mean I think there is a surprise coming. And it’s not a bad thing necessarily and it’s one of those problems that you create with a good squad.
And I know nothing, I’m just suggesting that if you’re a player that could be playing every week and it looks like you might not be, you might easily be enticed to a side that can offer that. I’m not writing this to be negative, but we have a lot of good players and I’d not be surprised if one or two more come.
And we also have a few youngsters I’m told have made an impression in America, so maybe it’s not just new players that are making you think a move is a good option. On the other hand, I could just be looking for something that isn’t there. It often happens. Look, spaceship!
Moving on
So, just to get this written we’ve lost Wes, Nakamba and Sanson in the last few days. Sanson might be back, but I doubt it. The others have gone gone.
Proper football is back
And while there are still pre-season matches to play, next week we play Newcastle in the first game of the season. Win this and I’ll be feeling very confident for the season. I know, one game.
And before I go, did Diaby really score from both wings and did Konsa do a Hutton?
