Irons chase Fofana
Despite the tensions surrounding the Irons at the moment, we appear to be in the midst of tabling a bid for Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana in the next few days.
We are all now painfully aware that we are still trying to find a replacement for our departed Declan Rice this summer, and have seen numerous efforts stall amid reported disagreements between David Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten over domestic or foreign targets.
After failed bids for James Ward-Prowse from Southampton plus talks with Ajax on Edson Alvarez and Manchester United for Scott McTominay faltering, it appears that Fofana is now the next player on our list.
There are reports circulating on the web that Steidten could resign amid all the chaos at the club, despite only arriving at the beginning of July. The board are supposedly keen on Steidten staying so perhaps all this Fofana interest is a way of preventing that?
It is pretty obvious that Fofana is a Steidten target , as we know Moyes’ preference has always been players with Premier League form.
Anyway, whoever we sign , it better be soon ,as we will once again be on the back foot when the season starts.
