Sensational Moyes bust-up claim
The Daily Mail and Daily Star are reporting a bust-up between David Moyes and Tim Steidten. The Star in particular have made a claim of a physical altercation between Moyes and the director of football.
I should state at this point, that personally I find the claim very difficult to believe. I’d certainly expect the article to be removed shortly, because it’s a very serious allegation.
The ‘row’ is believed to be a result of David Moyes frustration with West Ham’s refusal to purchase his transfer targets. The Scotsman had wanted to build a British spine with Scott McTominay, James Ward-Prowse and Harry Maguire his top targets.
Numerous reports suggest that Tim Steidten has thwarted the managers selections. This has resulted in a rift between the manager and David Sullivan (who is believed to be aligned with Steidten).
Whilst I struggle to believe the ‘fistycuffs’ aspect of the story, the remainder carries a whiff of truth. It is known that Steidten was recruited to hire younger more promising players. As a result, it’s safe to assume this is also the wish of the Hammers board.
The stand-off leaves Moyes completely isolated at West Ham. The Mail is also reporting that a list of managerial replacements has been collated.
Clearly Moyes has been made to look the villain of the piece. He’s far from my favourite manger, but surely he deserves better than this death of 1000 cuts. It appears the club have decided to not back the manager with transfers. So it’s puzzling to witness the charade of pretending to support him.
It’s impossible to know how much of this is true. However, with 8 days to go until the beginning of the Premier League season . . . it’s a mess.
