Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is expecting four new arrivals before the window closes.
Leeds United’s Tyler Adams should be the first while bids are being worked on for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. Brighton‘s Moises Caicedo is also making it clear he wishes to join.
Chelsea, of course, have to meet Brighton’s £105m valuation for Caicedo but Adams is a more straight-forward release clause of around £20million.
Palace have not been happy about Chelsea’s approach for Olise, who is also on City’s radar, but Palace want Chelsea left-back Lewis Hall on loan.
Brighton say they expect Caicedo to start their opening game.

Man City weigh up McAtee future
Manchester City are facing a decision on midfielder James McAtee’s future.
The ‘Salford Silva’, so-called because of his resemblance in style to former City favourite David Silva, is eager to build on his stand-out season in the Championship at Sheffield United last season but it was clear from Sunday’s Community Shield line-up that he will struggle for game time at City.
Cole Palmer, who has strong interest from Brighton, made a good impression but McAtee only has to look at the role Kalvin Phillips continues to have as a sign of what may lie ahead.

City are reluctant to let the talented midfielder leave but know that Wolves, Brighton, Celtic, Sociedad – following Silva’s retirement, Southampton, Sheffield United and AZ Alkmaar are all interested.
Some are willing to bid for a permanent move, others will take him on loan. McAtee has shown in pre-season he can compete against top sides having scored against Bayern Munich in City’s friendly 2-1 win last month.
City’s other goalscorer that day Aymeric Laporte is looking to sort out his future this week following the arrival of Josko Gvardiol.
City intend to keep Bernardo Silva, however, as they hope to tie him down to a new deal.
United preparing for exits before they can buy
Manchester United hope to push through the sales of Donny van de Beek and Fred this week while they await better offers for Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly.
United need to sell before they make their next transfer move with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo among their targets.
United have also held discussions about the merits of Everton’s Amadou Onana and Leeds United’s Tyler Adams but those talks have not progressed.
Van de Beek remains in talks over his move to Real Sociedad, West Ham manager David Moyes is still keen to tempt Maguire while Bailly has offers from Saudi clubs. Galatasaray’s pursuit of Fred has fallen short so far but Fulham retain an interest as well as clubs from Saudi.

Teenage starlet Melia looked at by City
Mason Melia, regarded as one of the finest young talents to emerge from Ireland in recent years, is having a trial at Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 15-year-old made his senior debut for St Patrick’s Athletic in May and a month later became the youngest goalscorer in the League of Ireland Premier Division at 15 years and 281 days old.
Liverpool and Bundesliga sides have also followed the teenager who is the nephew of agent and former player Clive Clarke.
United halt goalkeeper exits
The exit plans of for some of Manchester United’s goalkeepers have been put on hold following the sale of Nathan Bishop to Sunderland and a knee injury suffered by teenager Radek Vitek.
At one stage United had Sparta Prague ready to sign Matej Kovar, Luton wanting Tom Heaton, Sunderland for Bishop, Accrington Stanley for Vitek and Nottingham Forest for Dean Henderson.
Of course, Bishop signed for Sunderland, Henderson is still expected to depart and so could Kovar but for now moves are on hold. Bishop’s departure and the injury to 19-year-old Vitek leave cover for Amadou Onana sparse. United have been looking to add two more keepers but funds are restricted. Hull City still want 23-year-old Czech Kovar, who won the league with Sparta Prague last season, but the Championship side will have to wait.
Japan keeper and United target Zion Suzuki, meanwhile, is in talks to join Belgian side Saint Truiden on loan from Urawa Reds.

Bayern set to discuss next move for Kane
Bayern Munich will hold a transfer committee meeting today to discuss their next move on Harry Kane and more.
Traditionally, Bayern hold such discussions every Monday or Tuesday during transfer windows to keep on top of business. As well as Kane, they are discussing their next move for Manchester City’s Kyle Walker who Pep Guardiola is determined to keep.
Bayern have still to hear from Daniel Levy after making their last bid for Kane of £86m plus add-ons. As Confidential reported, Kane has previously signalled to Bayern that he would also be open to a move in 2024, but prefers a transfer now.

Salah still committed to Liverpool
Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief today after Al Ittihad showed intererst in signing Mo Salah.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already voiced concern at the Saudi Arabian market remaining open beyond that of the Premier League window and with good reason as his players continue to be targeted.
However, Salah’s agent Remy Abass took to social media to underline his client’s commitment saying: ‘If we considered leaving Liverpool this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract at the club last summer. Mohamed remains committed to Liverpool.’
Now, they just need to add a defensive midfielder. Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Andre of Fluminense remain in their sights.

Hammers suffer transfer list leak
West Ham staff were far from enamoured when their list of requirements appeared on the Transfer Room forum last week.
The facility is used by clubs and agents to discuss what and who is in the market place but is shunned by many.
A post appeared saying West Ham needed seven squad additions at left-back, centre-back, defensive midfield, attacking midfield, winger and striker; that they had a budget of around £20m per position and were open to using the loan market.
Manager David Moyes would prefer to be more discreet but their transfer pursuits are often public knowledge. They have agreed a £34million deal with Ajax for Edson Alvarez, who is due in London in the next 24 hours, while Bournemouth claim to have rebuffed an approach for Dominic Solanke.
Their last offer of £27m plus £3m for Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse is still short with £35m the desired value.

Swans and Tigers scrap for Ikoba
Here’s one for scrabble advocates, Eduvie Ikoba, the 6ft 4ins striker at Zalaegerszeg in Hungary is a target for Swansea and Hull City.
Born in Iowa, USA, Ikoba started out playing for Ivy League Dartmouth College and was initially picked up by FC Dallas. But after failing to make a breakthrough took a gamble on a move to Hungary.
He scored 11 goals in 22 games last season for Zalaegerszeg and now the 25-year-old is wanted in the Championship with the Hungarians holding out for £500,000.
Swansea and Hull City are both vying for the signature of Zalaegerszeg striker Eduvie Ikoba
Leeds keeping an eye on Kamara
Leeds United are weighing up a move for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara as they seek replacements for Tyle Adams.
Leeds had been exploring a move for Dion Lopy at Reims but he is joining Almeria. Adams has had interest from Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool but looks set for Chelsea.
Leeds are also looking for a centre-back and have checked on Pantelis Hatzidiakos at AZ Alkmaar.
Forest want to bring back Schmeichel
