Monaco are set to submit an official offer for Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez
As per a tweet from Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, French side AS Monaco are set to make an official bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez.
Spartak Moscow were also interested in the Colombian international, but a move was not possible due to geopolitical reasons.
It is also revealed that several teams have enquired about the possibility of signing the 27-year-old. But, Monaco are looking to steal a march by making an offer soon.
Sanchez, who has been a Tottenham player since 2017 after signing from Ajax, has his contract expiring here next summer (Transfermarkt).
It has not been all that rosy for him in the last six years. Signed after doing well in the Dutch league, the 27-year-old struggled for consistency in a Spurs shirt over a long period of time.
He has also been prone to making mistakes, either on the ball or positionally when asked to defend.
Although Tottenham letting go of Sanchez now may decrease their options at the back, it would make sense to sell him now rather than seeing him leave for free next summer.
It would be handy if Monaco make a decent offer for the club to accept so that they can reuse that money to sign a competent centre-back.
Spurs have done well to sign Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg and bolster the left-sided central defence. They must do that for the other side and Cristian Romero out.
They have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba this summer. It remains to be seen whether the link resurfaces in the coming days. Tapsoba has the profile and qualities to be an ideal addition to the squad.

Just that it might not be easy to sign someone late in the window because teams are reluctant to sell unless they have got the replacement ready.
