Everton are braced for a Che Adams medical as they put the finishing touches to agreeing a £15million deal with Southampton, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseysiders are set to complete a deal this week for the 27-year-old, who is keen to leave the Saints following their demotion from the Premier League.
Everton already have an agreement in principle with Adams over personal terms, as first revealed by Football Insider last Friday, and are now in the final stages of finalising a fee and structure of payments with the Championship outfit.
Adams is set to be granted permission to head to Merseyside for a medical and to put pen to paper on a permanent deal.
Southampton have been holding out all summer for £15million for Adams even though he has entered the final year of his contract.
Adams has scored in each of the Saints’ first three Championship games, with the latest coming in Saturdays’s 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle, after notching just five league goals last term.
Football Insider revealed on 30th June that the Merseysiders are keen to add two strikers to their squad this summer.
Adams, who has also attracted interest this summer from Wolves and Burnley, would become Sean Dyche’s fifth summer signing.
The Merseysiders have has so far completed the captures of Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma, Jack Harrison and teenage striker Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon.
According to FBRef, Adams earns a wage of £30,000-a-week at St Mary’s Stadium after joining the club for a reported fee of £15million in 2019.
He managed 10 goals and three assists in 35 games across all competitions last season as Southampton suffered relegation to the Championship.
The 27-year-old has managed 25 goals and 14 assists in 124 Premier League outings since making his top-flight debut in 2019.
Adams has also made 23 appearances for Scotland at senior level, notching six goals.
