Tottenham Hotspur prefer to sell Djed Spence on a permanent deal
According to popular journalist Ben Jacobs speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham Hotspur prefer to sell talented young right-back Djed Spence permanently this summer and not on a loan deal.
The tale of Spence’s potential exit gains momentum against the backdrop of Leeds United’s recent acquisition of Joe Rodon on loan from Tottenham. However, it’s not just Leeds that has thrown their hat into the ring.
The allure of Spence’s talents has captured the attention of Leeds, leading to what can only be described as a ‘concrete interest’ in securing his services. The transfer window looms, and Spence’s future hangs in the balance.
Tottenham stand firm in its resolve. While Leeds United harbour the desire to secure Spence on loan, the Lilywhites have clarified their intentions: they are keen on a permanent transfer right now.
While the allure of a loan move might be appealing, the limited number of suitors vying for his signature plays a pivotal role. Jacobs aptly points out that as the window inches towards closure, Championship clubs could find themselves in a strategic position.
The transfer saga has seen more than just Leeds United step into the fray. Bristol City and Swansea City, both Championship clubs, have thrown their hats into the ring, expressing an interest in securing Spence on loan.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Jacobs had to say about Tottenham wanting to sell Djed Spence
“With Spence, I think that there is concrete interest in a loan, but Tottenham would prefer a permanent sale. I’m also told that Swansea and Bristol City are two other clubs that have at least considered a loan move, but let’s see what the position is of Spurs because they would ultimately like to sell if they possibly could. It will, therefore, just depend on if anyone meets that valuation”
Spence’s journey to Tottenham commenced at the dawn of the previous season. However, the bright promise of his arrival has been tempered by a lack of consistent playing time. This scarcity of opportunities has, in part, led to his descent down the pecking order, exacerbated by the mid-season signing of Pedro Porro.

Spence does not seem like he has convinced Postecoglou and needs to leave the club. However, considering his potential, Tottenham must consider a loan deal in case he breaks through in the near future.
