Liverpool are understood to be keeping close tabs on Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso who has also courted interest from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The Serie A giants, however, could be against sanctioning the highly rated full-back’s sale before the transfer deadline next month even as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to step up their pursuit of the 23-year-old Cambiaso.
According to a report from the Italian publication Calciomercato, it is claimed that Liverpool lead Spurs in the chase for the Juve talent following his stellar loan spell with Bologna last season with the club securing a top half finish in the league.
He made the starting XI for Juve’s first game of the new season and it remains to be seen whether the Turin outfit will seek bids from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham with both clubs in the market for defensive reinforcements.
Klopp has bolstered his midfield roster over the summer with three new signings but shoring up his backline appears to be a priority too for the Liverpool manager amid the fast approaching September 1 transfer deadline.
