Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg now a subject of interest for Manchester United
As per an exclusive from Jason Burt for The Telegraph (subscription required), Manchester United are considering a shock move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Red Devils have been offered a chance to speak to the Danish international, with Spurs willing to sell him before the end of this transfer window.
Earlier in the window, Atletico Madrid had a fee agreement in place to sign the midfielder, but they failed to complete the deal due to a disagreement on personal terms.
The 28-year-old also rejected a move to the Saudi Pro League. His contract at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium runs until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt).
It seems like Ange Postecoglou does not have Hojbjerg in his long-term plans. As of now, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are starting in the midfield pivot with James Maddison operating in between the lines.
Then, there is Rodrigo Bentancur to come back from injury and young Oliver Skipp in the squad as well.
Moreover, with no European football, there isn’t any need to have a bloated squad unless injuries sweep through the players one after the other.
As a matter of fact, they would get more recovery between games to make sure the muscles are ready to go at the start of each game.
Coming back to Hojbjerg, he has been an excellent servant for the club since arriving from Southampton in 2020. He was a key figure in the midfield under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

The Dane is tactically disciplined and likes to win the ball back for the team and do all the dirty work. Keeping all these things in mind, we can understand why United are interested in him. Casemiro aside, they do not have that kind of player in the squad. Hence, they struggled in the first three games which constituted a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Spurs.
