Leicester City defender Wout Faes eyed as Eric Dier replacement by Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur have their eyes on Leicester City defender Wout Faes as a replacement for Eric Dier, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri on Twitter.
The English national could leave the North London side in the ongoing transfer window. As per Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter, Bayern Munich have the 29-year-old on their radar.
Therefore, if the former Sporting CP star were to leave the club in the final few days before the summer deadline, we would evidently need to bolster the backline.
To that end, Spurs are keeping tabs on several options to reinforce the defence this summer. Faes is one of the names being monitored by us. He is liked by the management.
Leicester signed the 25-year-old from Stade de Reims in the summer of 2022. Subsequently, the Belgium international was a key player for the Foxes.
Unfortunately, the 2022/23 term saw the King Power Stadium side get relegated. Faes was ever-present in their starting lineup. However, the centre-back did have a few moments to forget in the previous campaign.
At Tottenham, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven seem to be Ange Postecoglou’s preferred duo in defence. The Argentine World Cup winner and Holland national have started the first three Premier League matches together for the North London side in the new season.
Against Fulham in the second round of the Carabao Cup, Davinson Sanchez started alongside the former Wolfsburg centre-back. Dier was left out of the squad as we lost to the Cottagers on penalties.

Thus, it would not be a surprise to see the English national leave Spurs in the coming days. But we already have limited options in the backline. Whether Faes will be the one the Lilywhites will turn to remains to be seen.
