Liverpool’s U-21 talent, Billy Koumetio, is reportedly set to go on loan to Ligue 2 team Dunkerque, according to L’Equipe.
The defender, who arrived at Liverpool from US Orleans in 2020, has been a notable presence in the club’s youth setup.
Last summer, the young French player went on loan to Austria Wien, but his loan stint was cut short, and he returned to Liverpool in January.
Koumetio, who was once the youngest player to represent Liverpool in the Champions League until Stefan Bajcetic surpassed that record last year, has made 49 appearances at the U-21 level and was part of Liverpool’s U-19 team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2021-22 UEFA Youth League.
Now, he is set to leave Liverpool again in search of regular playing time, joining Dunkerque on a loan deal until next summer.

This move is seen as crucial for Dunkerque, who have had a difficult start to the new season in the French second division, with just one win, one draw, and two defeats in their first four games.
Meanwhile, there are strong rumours linking Liverpool’s first-team centre-back, Joel Matip, with a potential transfer, particularly to Rennes, in the final days of the transfer window.
The French Ligue 1 team is considering the German-born defender as a possible replacement for Arthur Theate, who is drawing interest from both Liverpool and Fulham.
