Everton star Demarai Gray has agreed a move to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq ahead of the close of the Saudi transfer deadline on Thursday (7 September), sources have told Football Insider.
Gray is set to sign a four-year deal at Al Ettifaq and he has already passed a medical to seal his switch from Everton.
The Saudi Pro League side, who have been working on a deal for the 27-year-old for some time, are set to announce the deal soon.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (4 September) that Ettifaq had a £7.5million bid rejected for Gray in the evening of England’s transfer deadline day.
Everton were reluctant to part with Gray as they felt unable to replace the winger before the deadline.
Gray hit out at manager Sean Dyche after the offer was rejected, claiming it is “difficult to play for someone who doesn’t show you respect as a person”.
The Jamaica international’s current contract at Goodison Park runs until 2024 and includes the option of a further year.
The attacker joined the Toffees from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 after spending his youth career and early senior years with Birmingham City.
Gray is yet to feature for Everton this term amid ongoing speculation over his future at the club and his number 11 shirt has already been taken by new arrival Jack Harrison.
Last term he made 36 appearances across all competitions, netting six goals and offering up one assist in a campaign that saw them narrowly avoid relegation.
