Liverpool made an unsuccessful £100 million bid to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, as per Spanish outlet AS.
Jurgen Klopp’s team made significant midfield additions in the summer, bringing in Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo. However, they also missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who signed with Chelsea.
According to AS, Liverpool made a huge £100 million offer for Guimaraes during the late stages of the summer transfer window.
Newcastle rejected Liverpool’s attempt to sign the Brazilian midfielder. The Magpies star had joined Newcastle from Lyon for £40 million in January 2022 and quickly became a key presence in Eddie Howe’s midfield.

With significant Premier League experience, Guimaraes is considered a well-rounded talent and is approaching his prime at 25 years old.
Since joining Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022, he has contributed 10 goals and six assists in 61 appearances across all competitions.
Newcastle, boosted by their return to the Champions League after more than two decades, were resolute in their stance.
Manager Eddie Howe and the club view Guimaraes as a key player, particularly with their European campaign on the horizon. They quickly rejected Liverpool’s substantial offer, affirming their determination to keep the Brazilian midfielder.
