Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad reportedly believes they can secure the signing of Mohamed Salah in January if Liverpool are not in contention for a title.
While Salah has remained at Anfield, there is expected to be renewed interest in him during the upcoming winter transfer window.
During the last transfer window, Liverpool fended off interest from Al-Ittihad, turning down a verbal offer that could have reached £150 million for their star forward.
Recent reports suggested that the Saudi club was considering making a renewed bid that might go up to £220 million with add-ons.

However, the Reds made it clear that they would not entertain the idea of selling Salah unless they were able to secure a suitable replacement for him.
Liverpool’s stance on Salah’s potential transfer is expected to face another test in the middle of this season.
According to The Mirror, Al-Ittihad hasn’t abandoned their hopes of signing Salah and will make a decision on pursuing him in the January transfer window based on Liverpool’s performance in the Premier League title race.
Manchester City are currently favoured to win their fourth consecutive title and have started the season strongly with a 100 per cent record, while the Reds have dropped points in just one game and currently sit third in the table.
The Mirror reports that Al-Ittihad believes Liverpool might consider a deal if they are not in contention to win their second title in four years.
However, they understand that it will be extremely difficult to secure Salah if Liverpool is competing for the top spot.

To keep their hopes of signing Salah alive, Al-Ittihad are relying on a favour from Manchester City. Traditionally, City have begun their seasons slowly under Pep Guardiola before finding their form after the Christmas period.
Salah, despite scoring two goals in Liverpool’s first four matches and providing two assists, has had a relatively quiet start to the season.
It’s worth noting that he recently signed a contract extension with Liverpool in May 2022, binding him to the club until the summer of 2025.
