Liverpool are considering a move for PSV Eindhoven youngster Johan Bakayoko during the winter transfer window, as per Football Insider‘s report.
The 20-year-old impressed with a strong performance for the Eredivisie club last season, contributing with five goals and five assists in 17 league starts. This performance has drawn the attention of several Premier League teams.
Brentford had made a serious attempt to sign the Belgian during the summer, coming close to a £34 million deal with PSV.
However, Bakayoko turned down the move, expressing his desire to play in the Champions League, especially after helping his team qualify for the competition this season.

According to Football Insider’s report, PSV Eindhoven might have to consider selling the Dutch star in January if they do not advance past the group stage in the Champions League. Liverpool are reportedly eyeing this situation as an opportunity to sign him.
The Reds have begun conducting background checks and research on the player as they plan a potential transfer.
Liverpool might be considering Bakayoko as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah in case they are compelled to sell the Egyptian, who has been strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ittihad have expressed interest in signing the 31-year-old and even submitted an official offer of around £150 million during the summer. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side was determined to retain their star player and turned down the proposal.
Nevertheless, there are suggestions that Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is still interested in securing Salah and could return with an improved offer to sign the African player in January.
Liverpool seems to be actively considering options in the transfer market to replace the winger if they decide to let him go in the coming months.

They have been linked with several wingers recently, including Nico Williams and Leroy Sane. However, Bakayoko has also emerged as a potential target for the club.
The left-footed right-winger possesses a range of valuable qualities, including speed, strong technical skills, the ability to navigate past defenders in tight spaces, playmaking abilities, goal-scoring prowess, and a strong work ethic without the ball.
These attributes make him well-suited for success in the Premier League, and if Liverpool chooses to secure his services in the January transfer window, it could prove to be a smart signing.
