Tottenham Hotspur loanee Djed Spence ruled out for up to eight weeks with injury
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Djed Spence finds himself in an unfortunate situation, with a knee injury that is set to sideline him for up to eight weeks while playing for Leeds United. This is according to Alasdair Gold on football.london.
The young defender, who arrived at Tottenham with much promise, had his fair share of struggles during his short stint in North London. Last summer, Tottenham pursued Djed Spence vigorously, finally sealing the deal with a £19 million transfer from Middlesbrough.
The excitement was palpable as fans anticipated his arrival, hoping he would replicate the form he had displayed during his spell at Nottingham Forest the previous season. Unfortunately, the transition didn’t quite go as planned.
Time for the Spurs loan latest with Joe Rodon praise, Tanguy Ndombele’s debut, a bad injury for Djed Spence, an odd little moment for Japhet Tanganga, a first league start for Alfie Devine and plenty more. https://t.co/QN7gdioeZF

Spence’s time at Tottenham was characterized by limited opportunities, with just six first-team appearances and a mere 41 minutes of game time to his name. Many speculated that his lack of playing time was a result of Antonio Conte’s reluctance to utilize a player whose signing might not have been entirely at his discretion.
With Conte’s departure and the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the new manager this summer, there was a glimmer of hope that Spence could finally showcase his talents in a Spurs shirt. Again, that was not to be the case.
However, fate had other plans, and Djed Spence found himself loaned out to Leeds United for the entirety of the 2023/24 season. It was an opportunity for him to regain his footing and prove his worth.
Sadly, his time at Leeds has been far from smooth sailing. With just one brief substitute appearance to his name, the 23-year-old now faces a significant setback in the form of a knee injury.
The Athletic has revealed that Djed Spence has suffered knee ligament damage during a training session last week. The injury, specifically identified as lateral collateral ligament damage, will not require surgery but is expected to keep him out of action until the middle of November.
