One of the emerging situations for Chelsea to deal with in January is the loan of Andrey Santos.
The midfielder is not playing at all at Nottingham Forest, and naturally the Blues are keen to deal with this situation. They can’t force the Tricky Trees to use him, so they’re going to have to get extreme.
Fabrizio Romano has been reporting on the whole situation for Caughtoffside, and he says that Chelsea are simply going to recall the midfielder and send him elsewhere.
“The 19-year-old has not been playing for Forest, and Chelsea are not happy with the situation, so it’s an easy decision for them. The priority will be to loan him out again once he returns.
“It’s a strange saga and I don’t have details about why Santos didn’t play more for Forest – Steve Cooper simply trusts other players more than Andrey, and now Chelsea want him to end the loan and come back.”
As Santos has no Premier League starts, Chelsea can freely recall him without penalty. The question remains where they would send him next however. Their FIFA limited international spots are already taken up, so unless they recall one of their 7 already elsewhere in Europe, the former Vasco man will be limited to moves within England.
What could have been a great breakthrough is turning into a bit of a nightmare.
