Chelsea spent £58m on Romeo Lavia this summer, yet fans still haven’t seen him in action yet.
Supposedly he just hadn’t had much preseason at Southampton, but it’s since become clear he’s had a much more serious injury than that, and it’s only this week that he’s finally come back into first team training.
Fabrizio Romano has just put out a very bombastic Tweet claiming that Mauricio Pochettino and his staff are “convinced about Romeo as present and future key player.”

Well, that sounds good. The question is where this “key player” is going to fit into our team right now.
Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are presumably undroppable, given how much they cost. That then means leaving out Conor Gallagher, who is a home grown club captain who has been excellent for us this season.
That doesn’t sound like a decision that will be too popular, unless Lavia comes in and tears it up from the moment he’s on the pitch.
