Andrey Santos is becoming the centre of attention again, a year after he joined Chelsea.
Things all seemed to be setting up so smoothly for the midfielder after he signed for the Blues in January. His loan back to the Brazilian league went well, and then he went a step further in the summer and shone with his national youth side.
But after peaking at the U20 World Cup, it’s all gone downhill. A loan to Nottingham Forest has proved a disaster, and Dean Jones at GiveMeSport has explained how disappointed Chelsea are by the outcome:
“The club are very frustrated because they had good word from Forest about the game time he would get, but sometimes this happens. Nothing in football is guaranteed.
“Now I am told they will work on a new plan for him and that is likely to mean another loan. I think we’ll probably see him move abroad in January, but this is still a player Chelsea are working closely with because they do believe he has a big future in the game if he can just level-up his experience.”
By all accounts, Santos will be recalled in January and sent on a new loan. If he finds a good home for the second half of the season, all will be forgiven, and we will quickly remember that and not this wasted 6 months.
If the midfielder has another wasted 6 months however, there will be serious concerns about those in charge and the loan destinations they’re picking.
